HYBRID Bystanders Protecting Children

  • Delaware Township Community Center 9094 East 131st Street Fishers, IN, 46038 United States (map)

Darkness to Light’s Bystanders Protecting Children® teaches adults skills to be an active bystander when it comes to protecting children from sexual abuse.

What is Active Bystanding? A “bystander” is a person who witnesses a boundary violation or sees a situation in which to protect children. An Active Bystander is someone who does something about it. Bystanders can play a major role in keeping kids safe by acting when they see a child who needs help. Go beyond theoretical knowledge and learn practical skills for protecting children. In this training you will learn how to be an active bystander in child sexual abuse prevention and response. You will receive examples of boundary violations and inappropriate behaviors, and how you can make spontaneous and planned interventions that reinforce boundaries and protect children. Intervening or taking preventative measures as a bystander can mean the difference between a child being sexually abused or being protected from abuse.

This training is funded by grants obtained by the Indiana Center for Prevention of Youth Abuse and Suicide and these funds are specific to Indiana residents. Therefore we ask that people who live outside of Indiana check Darkness to Light's website (D2L.org) to find a training in their area.

This event is HYBRID. Registrants will be asked to choose virtual or in-person. The training link and materials will be send to virtual participants prior to the training. The location for in-person participants is the Delaware Township Community Center.
